Making good use of tiled textures

I made a quick set of videos explaining how I unwrapped this scene using only 1 texture on almost all objects. It's a very informal video, explaining it to my friends from college.

Hey man, I just came across your blog and saw an inexplicable lack of comments. To rectify that I just wanted to say thanks for putting in the time on the videos. I enjoyed your show and tell of the process you are using for the texturing of your environment.

If it helps I hate hearing the sound of my own voice as well.

Hello,

My name is Andrew Smallis, I am a student at the Art Institute of San Diego.

I ask for your help on understanding the texturing technique you demonstrate in the blog entry "Making good use of tiled textures."

I am being asked to use this technique for a project, but I have never learned it and have only just found out what it is.

The uvs you use for the project you demonstrated in the videos overlap and go outside the 0-1 space, I was taught that anything outside the 0-1 would not be read by unreal.

I understand you are using max for the demo, but I am having trouble understanding how to use this technique in max for the project I'm using.

I have a sample of the texture I was testing with, and the model I'm working on applying this technique to.

Any advice you can give me on learning to apply this technique and questions I have would be very much appreciated.

Thank You very much for anything you can do to help me.

Sincerely,

Andrew Smallis
